About FSWE
Family Services Windsor-Essex (FSWE) is a multi-service, not-for-profit agency that has been part of the Windsor-Essex community since 1951. We support people across all stages of life with programs that promote mental wellness, financial empowerment, housing stability, and community inclusion.

Every year, FSWE helps thousands of individuals meet their basic needs, access mental health supports, and reclaim their sense of agency and belonging. Our work is guided by values of equity, compassion, integrity, and innovation — and powered by partnerships across the region.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking leaders who are passionate about creating a more resilient and compassionate Windsor-Essex.
Our ideal Board members reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and bring a range of perspectives, skills, and lived experiences.
We encourage applications from individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Mental health and wellness
- Fundraising and community engagement
- Public Relations
Board members must be 18+ and reside in Windsor-Essex.
Board Member Commitments
Board members at FSWE play a vital governance role — providing strategic oversight, championing our mission, and ensuring the agency’s long-term health and accountability.
We aim to make board service meaningful, manageable, and accessible. Whether you’re a seasoned leader or joining your first board, your time and contributions will be valued.
As a Board member, you will:
- Attend and actively participate in regular Board meetings (5–6 per year)
- Act as an ambassador for our mission and values
- Follow fiduciary, legal, and ethical responsibilities as outlined in Board policies
